Immunization Legislation & Policy Information
2010

March 23, 2010 - Governor Gregoire signed into law House Bill 2551, the legislation that:
- Allows the state to continue to purchase vaccines at bulk discount rates for kids covered by private health insurance.
- Directs privated health plans and other payers to pay the state for vaccines given to kids they cover.
- Establishes the Washington Vaccine Association, which will manage payments to the state from health plans and other payers.
Without this legislation, universal vaccine purchase would have ended on May 1, 2010 due to state funding cuts. Click here for more information about changes to the universal childhood vaccine program or visit the Washington Vaccine Association website.
